Job Title:
General Manager

With Ali’s arrival at CORE the British contingent at the organisation has been strengthened, yet again! Born and bred in Hampshire, Southern England, Ali met and married her kiwi husband, Howard and moved to Christchurch with him twelve years ago. They have an eight-year-old son, Thomas who is a pupil at Windsor School in Christchurch, and who is already planning what he will study at university (if he is not an All Black by then).

Following her tertiary study (a BA History/English) Ali worked in secondary school teaching and school management in the UK. In New Zealand, Ali took up the role of Associate Registrar at CPIT and worked there for nine years, during which time she completed a post-graduate diploma in management. Ali brings a wealth of managerial and education experience to her role as general manager/CEO at CORE. For the past 4 years she has also been President of the NZ Branch of the Association of Tertiary Education Managers (ATEM), which continues her close links with tertiary education in Australasia. She also Chairman of the Board of Trustees at her son's school. Ali is also an Associate Fellow of the NZ Institute of Management and a Member of the Institute of Directors.

Not one to get complacent, Ali  is currently completing her Masters in Business Administration (MBA), and is working on her doctoral research proposal which focuses on Foucault's concept of the Panopticon and its effects on particpants in Online Communities of Practice.
