Breakfast at CORE Education

This morning, Mark Horgan, Senior Programme Advisor - Education Sector ICT from the Ministry of Education spent the morning at CORE Education speaking to local educators at a breakfast seminar.
Mark’s presentation focused on the issue of “Supporting learning in a connected sector through the smart use of ICT”. Mark provided an overview of Education Sector ICT, introducing the New Zealand ICT Strategic Framework for Education (http://www.minedu.govt.nz/goto/ictframework), and the development of foundation sector-wide shared ICT services. Despite the chilly Christchurch morning we had a great turnout, almost 30 people joined us for breakfast. We had a good mix of educators from primary to tertiary, the group was made up of principals, Board of Trustees members and Teachers in charge of ICT.
Helen Harper from the Ministry of Education will speak at CORE’s next breakfast seminar on Tuesday, 17 June. Helen is a Senior Research Analyst, eLearning. At this breakfast seminar, Helen will give a brief overview of the function of the research & evaluation team in the Ministry of Education. She will also talk about the opportunities for schools and teachers to get involved in research and to find out what type of information or research they would find useful. She will be joined by Helen Cooper, a member of the eLearning team in the Christchurch office of the Ministry of Education.
