Richard, Malcolm and Sarah formed CORE Education UK in January 2007 to align with CORE Education in New Zealand with roots of a relationship going back to its 2003 foundation. IN 2007/8 CORE UK has worked in partnership with the UK Specialist Schools & Academies Trust, Becta, the Improvement & Development Agency, UNESCO and the Qualifications & Curriculum Authority. Richard is also working with University of Bolton and Sarah with Anglia Ruskin University on inter-disciplinary, inquiry-based learning. Malcolm is engaged with a group of European schools on a collaborative learning project.

Abstract
The common ground for all of these activities is the investigation of online community to support knowledge acquisition and sharing. There are some clear practical aspects to this – facilitation of the community is paramount – and also some conditions and circumstances which make for more effective and sustainable results. This seminar will present the Core UK experience with a particular focus on the combination of factors to catalyse action research for improvement in the school curriculum.

Breakfast will be served at 7.45am, with Richard, Malcolm & Sarah beginning the discussion at 8.15am. They will wrap things up around 9.00am, but you are invited to stay and chat with them after the seminar.
