Michael Winters

Michael is a relatively ancient pom, having been born in London during Hitler’s war. Michael’s training is as a chemist/biochemist. He was involved in academic and industrial research – the latter in the pharmaceutical industry.
Michael dropped out and went through his hippy phase at the relatively late age of 37. During this time, he ended up in a spiritual community in North Scotland, where he met Josephine, who married him and brought him out to New Zealand as a souvenir of her OE.
Michael trained in the secondary programme at Christchurch College of Education and taught in schools from Invercargill to Ruawai in Northland. He returned to Christchurch as a lecturer at the college, where he became involved in evaluating the first round of Digital Opportunities projects. He joined CORE early in 2004, and is involved with the e-Learning Fellows, the DigiOps evaluation, and a number of projects with Christchurch Polytechnic Institute of Technology.
Michael has two sons and a dalmation, and is passionate about his work in telephone counselling with Lifeline.
