Job Title:
National facilitator - INSTEP

Renowned for her flair and work ethic regarding all things culinary, staff at the CORE Christchurch office were thrilled to hear about the return of Ronnie to the CORE payroll.  Her muffins alone have elevated her to a god-like status, never mind the huge tupperware containers full to the brim with mouth-watering chocolate slice. Apart from providing an important motivation for staff to come to work, Ronnie has taken on the role of national facilitator for INSTEP, an exciting Ministry of Education research and development project designed to promote and support the professional learning of in-service teacher educators.

Ronnie has been involved in pre-service teacher education as a principal lecturer in the schools of secondary teacher education and professional development at Christchurch College of Education for the past ten years.  She has worked in secondary English education, in the literacy area in the MTchLn programme, and in in-service work on various professional development and research contracts over the years.  Prior to this, Ronnie taught English and led English Departments at various secondary schools throughout New Zealand. She is also the current president of NZATE, a role that keeps her in touch with her colleagues around the country and with her first love, the teaching of English.

Ronnie describes herself as a typical club-sandwich generation boomer with a lovely husband, son living overseas and another who keeps boomeranging back home, gorgeous granddaughter, and aging mums.  She is an avid reader, viewer, traveller, socialiser (and Christmas party host/caterer!). She loves her iPOD, technology that works, acid jazz, zany, irreverent humour, and wishes she had more opportunities to laugh.  Her motto is…”the world is a either potential earring or teaching resource!”
