Job Title:
Researcher

Sandra is able to perfectly combine her years of teaching experience, her passion for new technologies in education, her thorough, methodical and organised approach to work and her enjoyment of engaging with a variety of people in her role at CORE.  Being a senior researcher, she is charged with the task of managing the participant surveys for the ICT PD contract and acting as academic mentor for the eFellowship programme.

Missing the action at the coalface, Sandra returned to the classroom and now works half of her time at Paparoa Street Primary School where she enjoys her year 5 class and contributes to the ICT Committee.

Though having lived in New Zealand for a good 22 years (she became a citizen in 1986), Sandra’s distinct accent belies her birth place of Alberta, Canada.  This would explain another of her passions, ice-skating, and in particular, synchronized skating – apparently like marching teams on ice.  Due to her expertise in this amazing sport, she gets to travel the world, taking part in synchronized skating competitions as a judge. She recently flew to Paris to complete her training and gain qualifications for international singles and pairs judging status.

When not travelling the world with her ice-skating expert hat on Sandra can be found at home with her husband Martyn and cat Tasha waging war on weeds to release stress, reading a good crime novel or watching Casablanca  - or another old classic of that ilk.
